Graduate Showcase 2021

A MESSAGE FROM THE BFA CLASS OF 2021

After four years of practising, through ups and downs, both global and personal, we have arrived. A culmination for some, a beginning for others. The class of 2021 has always been an intimate and compassionate class. We are so grateful for the processes which have brought us to this point, and for the opportunity to present our work physically in light of the pandemic.

The multi-media exhibition deals with a variety of themes: from catharsis to imprisonment, gendered, societal and cultural norms, violence, loss, race and the encouragement for accountability. Whilst some spaces are politically aligned to major societal issues within South Africa, these works have all come to life from deeply personal truths. We hope you enjoy engaging with these spaces, that they move you, and that you take the time you need in them.

With love and gratitude,
The Graduate Class of 2021.
